Irony

Irony

Irony is a pretense of ignorance and of willingness to learn from another assumed in order to make the other's false conceptions conspicuous by adroit questioning. Irony existed in my life as I got older and I would hear things and wasn't 100 percent sure if that person was right, I would question them and i would find out if they were right or not. Irony still exists in my life because I see and hear things I didn't before and I would question it. Richard Cory had many examples of irony such as when the people said he was a gentleman from sole to crown, clean favored and imperially slim. And he was always quietly arrayed, and he was always human when he talked; But still he fluttered pulses when he said, "Good-morning," and he glittered when he walked. The people reacted to Richard Cory seeing him as everything and having them wish they were in Richard cory's place. The facts in this poem show that the people downtown looked up to Richard Cory and wanted to be in his place, the last line is such a surprise because that wasn't an expectation from Richard Cory to shoot himself in the head. The poem shocked me because everyone wanted to be someone who ends up shooting they self in the head so he can look as glittered as he wants but no one really knew what was really going on with him. People would envy anyone who has the position that everyone wants to be in and the difference from a news item in a paper and a poem is that the news get straight to it and the poem catches you by surprise. Irony is created by the people and what they say about Richard Cory, the facts are told by the people.
